DIY Personalized Beverage Tub

I have a beverage tub obsession. I really do. I have more beverage tubs than any one person could ever need. I have big ones, small ones, all colors and sizes. I have a one with Christmas colored jingle bells attached to it, one shaped like a pumpkin. I love having themed parties just so I can use the "perfect" one. Weird, I know.

So when it comes to wedding gifts or house warming gifts I always feel the need to incorporate a beverage tub into my present. Because, really, who wouldn't want one? I usually find one at Target and fill it with fun items for newly weds or if it is a housewarming gift I use my stockpile to fill it with all the things a new homeowner would need.

I recently saw the cutest personalized tubs online. You could order them house numbers or last names and they were adorable. Only problem is they were over $100 each. So when I wanted to get my brother a housewarming gift for his new apartment in Chicago, I figured I could make him one for a fraction of the price and still have room in my budget to add some fun things to his tub.

I started with a plain white beverage tub from Target which I just happened to find on clearance for $10. I then purchased vinyl black numbers from Michaels for the house number. They were .99 cents per two pack of numbers so all in all I spent $13 to create my very own personalized beverage tub.

I then carefully placed on the numbers and attempted to smooth out any creases or lines. While this may not be completely professional looking, I was really happy with the results and I love that I can create a very personalized gift without breaking the bank.

Since I saved alot of money by making the tub myself, I was able to fill it with fun things my brother would need for his new apartment like espresso cups, a cool wine opener, and lots of other things like cleaning products from my stockpile so he wouldn't have to go out and spend money on all those things. As a couponer, I can often forget how much it costs to pay full price for all the things you need when you move into a new home.

I am so excited about all the possibilities for this project. I want to try using different color schemes as well as using letters to spell out last names or even to put wedding dates on tubs for my newly married friends. Maybe I will even make one for Justin and I because, honestly, I am pretty sure we could always use one more : )
