As the name of my blog suggests, couponing is something I do every time I shop anywhere. And if you've ever tried to learn how to use coupons yourself,  you know that one of the most time consuming parts of couponing is clipping coupons. It can often get frustrating to have to run home to get my coupons before stopping by a store or needed to spend 15 minutes looking for and clipping paper coupons. I have taken to keeping my couponing bag in the car with me in case I need to run in and grab a few things when I am around town.

Nothing makes me crazier than having to pay full price for something when I know I have a coupon for it at home. It was like Walgreens read my mind when they added their new paperless coupon feature to their mobile app. I can now simply "clip" my coupons digitally and they are automatically tied to my Balance Rewards card as well as available with one easy scannable barcode on my phone.

When I first downloaded the app, I went through the available paperless coupons and clipped the ones I thought I might use. I love that I didn't have to waste ink or paper and I could clip as many as I wanted without lots of clutter or paper to carry around. Once in the store, I could also search through the coupons right in the aisle to see if what I was buying had one available. That came in very handy when I ended up with an impulse buy of lip balm : )

We are getting ready to leave on a family road trip in to North Carolina in a few weeks and I needed to stop by Walgreens to refill a prescription. While I waited I decided to supplement the first aid travel kit I had already put together at Walgreens over Spring Break with a few extra things we might need while in the mountains. I gabbed Purel, Bactine Spray, an OFF Family Care Pen, lip balm, and some road trip snacks. I was able to save over $5 with my paperless coupons and that paid for my prescription co-pay which was a nice way to use my savings. I also had $5 in Balance Rewards too so I saved over $10 total in one trip!

As someone who has a busy summer and school year ahead of them, I love that I can browse new Walgreens coupons on my phone and since I am often running in there to grab a prescription it's nice to know that I can save on the go with paperless coupons even if I made an unplanned trip.

SNICKERS Peanut Butter Granola Bites

Are you planning any road trips this summer? We are heading up to North Carolina with my family in a few weeks and if this ten hour car trip goes anything like our past ones, I know that we are going to need a few snacks and drinks to help us refuel along the way.

My mom is a pretty hard core person when it comes to road trips. She has our best interests at heart in wanting us to get where we are going as fast as possible but if you are hungry or thirsty before our very well planned and scheduled lunch/dinner stop then too bad. So we have learned to plan ahead and pack our own snacks and beverages.

In getting ready for our trip, I ran out to Walmart to grab some snack items we would need for the road. I grabbed a few SNICKERS 2-to-go bars and a some Dr Peppers while I was there. Now, personally a SNICKERS and a soda as they are would be a great road trip pick me up especially since the 2-to-go are perfect for sharing with someone (if you are that generous) or for saving the second bar for a later snack. But, since I like to jazz things up a little bit and since my family loves having all kinds of sweet treats on a road trip, I made these amazing SNICKERS Peanut Butter Granola Bites too.

Don't get confused. While there is peanut butter in the name, I used the traditional SNICKERS 2-to-go in this recipe. I love the unexpected bites of nougat and caramel mixed in with the oatmeal, peanuts and chocolate. You could use the SNICKERS Peanut Butter or Almond 2-to-go versions as well if you prefer. These bites are completely customizable. You can use different kinds of nut butters over peanut butter, you can add in different mix ins and they truly are the perfect sweet but filling treat.

They don't have to be stored in the fridge once they are set up but if you are taking a long (and more than likely hot) car trip you may want to keep them in the cooler with your Dr Pepper.

SNICKERS Peanut Butter Granola Bites

  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter (or any kind of nut butter you prefer)
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup canola oil (or any kind of oil you prefer)
  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts (or other mix in)
  • 2 SNICKERS 2-to-go bars chopped up into bite sized pieces

  • 1.) In a sauce pot on medium heat, mix together peanut butter, oil and honey. Heat and stir until completely combined.

2.) Pour oatmeal into a large mixing bowl and pour warm peanut butter mixture over it. Stir to coat.

3.) Stir in the remainder of the ingredients. You want it to be well combined but not overly mixed. The warmth from the peanut butter mixture will melt some of the chocolate and SNICKERS pieces but it tastes better when you leave the pieces as whole as possible.

4.) Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, scoop mixture into mini muffin tins. As mentioned above, you may want to line or grease the tin lightly to help with removal. You can also use mini muffin liners too.

5.) Refrigerate for at least two hours before removing from tin.

Right now Walmart has a great coupon offer purchase (2) SNICKERS® 2-to-go bars and (2) 20 oz Dr Pepper bottles and receive $1.00 off. There is also a SNICKERS® Dr Pepper Refuel Sweepstakes: Purchase (2) SNICKERS® 2-to-go and (2) 20 oz Dr Pepper bottles, then text or email your receipt to refuel@drvusa.com and be entered for a chance to win 1 of 250 available Walmart gas/gift cards. Cake Batter TWIX Bites Dessert Dip

Are you ready for Father's Day yet? I don't quite have a gift yet, but I have dessert in the bag. When it comes to celebrating dad's I think of BBQing outside and sitting on the back porch relaxing. And in the June heat of South Florida, nothing sounds better for dessert at an afternoon BBQ then a cool, refreshing dessert dip made with Mars TWIX Bites and served with fruit and cookies.

As far as family celebrations go, I like to keep it simple. Something I can prepare ahead and then just serve when needed is my favorite way to go. This dessert dip only has three ingredients and you can switch up the flavor or go with lower fat/lower sugar options as you prefer.

I went with a standard cake batter dip inspired by this TWIX dip I made at Christmas time. The creamy cake batter is broken up by crunchy, caramely, TWIX Bites for a dessert that you could take a spoon to. Not that I recommend that or would ever do that. But if your dad is anything like my dad, he may do it anyways and use the excuse "Well, it's Father's Day."

The graham crackers and apple slices were the perfect dipping tools. Caramel and apples always go well together and the Granny Smith Apples gave a little tanginess to offset the sweetness of the dip.

You can pretty much use any type of cracker, cookie or fruit you have on hand. This would probably even taste good on cardboard.

    Cake Batter TWIX Bites Dip
    • 8oz tub of Cool Whip
    • 1 cup of Yellow Cake Mix (just the mix)
    • 20-25 TWIX Bites, cut in half
1.) Beat together the Cool Whip and cake mix until smooth.

2.) Stir in chopped up TWIX Bites.

3.) Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving with graham crackers, apple slices or any other type of cookie or fruit you prefer.

Want to save on TWIX Bites and all of the other varieties in the Mars Bites Family? Not only can you get them for a great price regularly at Walmart like I did. Check out the variety of coupons Mars has available right now including one to save $3.00 Off any two (2) MARS Brand Bites, 6oz. or larger. Includes TWIX®, 3 MUSKETEERS®, MILKY WAY® Simply Caramel, MILKY WAY® & SNICKERS®.

    Grown Up Versions Of Childhood Favorites {Kraft #1DollarDeals}

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser #1DollarDeals .

When it comes to the end of school, I am just like a little kid. Being a high school teacher means that I get to experience the joy that comes with the "School's Out For Summer!" feeling every June. And while it is an amazing feeling, this time of year makes for a crazy schedule with very little time to prep and sit down to a full meal. So in honor of that summer feeling and in an effort to save time, I have put together two traditional children's after school snacks and remade them as adult versions.

Since I don't like to break the bank with afternoon snacks, I headed to Walmart and grabbed a few of Kraft's $1 deals like Jell-O: Instant Chocolate Pudding & Pie Filling, Kraft Original Flavor Macaroni & Cheese Dinner and Kool-Aid Bursts, 6 count. I already had a few things I needed at home but I grabbed a few additional items and for less than $10 was set with everything I needed to make an adult version of the traditional blue box Kraft Mac & Cheese and a dressed up version of a Jell-O pudding cup.

I was an extremely picky eater as child but I have vivid memories of loving Kraft Mac & Cheese. I was a total weirdo who only liked the "regular noodles" so even as an adult I made sure to grab those. I knew that the first thing I was going to make was a grown up version of my childhood favorite.

This recipe starts out exactly like a traditional Mac & Cheese following the directions on the box. Once it is ready, I stirred in 1/2 cup of sliced sun-dried tomatoes, spooned it into ramekins, and topped each one with a little panko and Parmesan. I baked them up for 5 minutes at 350 degrees and they were the perfect afternoon snack for adults.

For when we are in the mood for a sweeter snack, I created a "fancy" version of a Jell-O pudding cup. I made the pudding according to the directions on the package and let it set up in individual plastic cups. I dressed up the tops with a little Cool Whip pipped in an icing bag and sprinkled on some chocolate sprinkles for athestics and crunch. These can be stored in the fridge for a ready when you need it single serving treat.

And since you can't have a snack without something to drink, I had to fulfill a childhood dream and buy Kool-Aid Bursts. In our house as a child, we constantly asked for these. My mom usually only gave into them for parties and special occasions. So now that I do my own grocery shopping, there were definitely going in my cart. And with a little bow on them, they look just right next to my grown up snacks.
