Spent $12, Saved $48 |
It was a really small trip for me today. I just don't need anything. This is probably the last week we will be able to get away with not buying meat since we are still eating off of my amazing overage trip a few weeks ago. We are looking into Zaycon for our chicken and I am really excited. Another reason I did not need anything this week was that we won't be cooking while we are on our Spring Break trip so I tried to just shop the "super deals" to add to the stockpile/fridge/freezer. I may run to Walmart later tonight (I am dreading it) to get a few things I couldn't find at Publix for a fun St. Patricks Day treat but other than that no other shopping trips for me this week.
A few people have commented or asked about the lack of basics or staples in my shopping trips. No we don't eat frozen food/processed every night. As you can see from my past shopping trips, I try to stock up on the basics when they are on sale. I may buy 20 boxes of whole wheat pasta one week and then not buy it again for a few months. We stock up on flour, sugar, butter, eggs, milk, cheese, cereal, and veggies (frozen or fresh) when they are on great sale and I make sure that they have a decent expiration date so we can eat them for a week or two (or longer). We also don't eat everything I buy in one shopping trip during one week. The four frozen Stouffer's meals will get eaten over the next few months until they go on sale again. That is the beauty of couponing!
If you only look at one trip you may not see that but I promise you we make alot of meals from scratch (just check out my recipe tabs above) and we use our stockpile/fridge/freezer to supplement our meals with veggies and to make fresh bread and other stuff. I also use a little of our grocery budget to visit the local farmer's market when we can too. Just wanted to clarify that : )
This week was short and sweet. Not too many coupons but I did hit $30 before coupons so I could use one of my $5/$30 Winn Dixie coupons.
